Cobolli's rhythm and clay-court movement still put him ahead of Svajda
Monday's official order of play gives Flavio Cobolli the first main-court slot against Zach Svajda, and the matchup still points most cleanly toward the Italian in the outright market. Cobolli is not being priced on name alone here. His current form in Paris gives the angle real footing.
Roland-Garros' own report on his win over Learner Tien describes a controlled straight-sets performance, and that matters because Cobolli looked comfortable dictating the shape of rallies rather than merely surviving them. On clay, that is often the clearest separator between a player who is ready for the second week and one who is still chasing it.
Svajda deserves respect after coming through a long five-set battle to reach this spot, but that path can cut both ways. If Cobolli establishes forehand depth early and keeps the court geometry wide, he should get enough neutral-ball control to stay ahead. The straight win is the sensible call.
