Wednesday's Champions League first legs did more than settle the night's headlines. They also changed what bettors are likely to focus on when the return games arrive on 17 and 18 March 2026.
Two ties now start from a very different place
UEFA's results page shows the biggest margin came in Madrid, where Real beat Manchester City 3-0. The same matchday also produced PSG's 5-2 win over Chelsea, Leverkusen's 1-1 draw with Arsenal and BodΓΈ/Glimt's 3-0 victory over Sporting CP.
Market attention usually moves after scorelines like these
When a first leg ends 3-0 or 5-2, the discussion naturally shifts away from a simple match-winner market. Qualification pricing, team totals, comeback scenarios and live-betting angles become much more central because the leading side may manage risk very differently in the second leg.
The balanced tie now stands out even more
Arsenal's 1-1 draw in Leverkusen is the exception. Compared with the heavier first-leg wins elsewhere, that tie should remain closer to a traditional match analysis, because both teams still have a realistic route through in normal time.
